Words from Linda L. Rigsbee
Author & Editor of the zine Dear Tales
and more than 20 home-published books.
I am a literary entrepreneur. Other than being a high school graduate, my extended education is limited mostly to a degree of common sense from the school of hard knocks. I have self-educated myself in the field of writing. The only certificates hanging on my wall are those from writing contests. To my way of thinking, proof of success can only be measured in the minds of my readers and my joy of writing.
I hope to inspire. I have ADD and I am mildly dyslexic. None of which has thrown more than an occasional foot in my path. To me, the word "can't" is a challenge, not a barrier. Each time I fall and get up, I am that much closer to my goal.
Experience is something that begins the day you are born and ends the day you die. The least experienced has something to teach and the most experienced has something to learn.
Attitude builds the writer. Failure is inevitable. For every book, there is a fan and a critic. When I finish one book, I move on to the next. I am continually finding new genres. I am conservative, but that doesn't mean my mind rattles around in one box. A story can be told as many ways as there are writers. Perspective and delivery are the keys to variety.
